The Minokake-Iwa rocks can be found off the shore of the Izu Peninsula on Honshu – Japan’s largest and most populous main island. The rugged, forested Izu Peninsula extends into the Pacific Ocean and is about 100 kilometres south-west of Tokyo, making it a popular weekend getaway. It is known for its soaring mountains, beautiful beaches, hot springs and resorts. Japan’s highest mountain, Mount Fuji, is about 50 kilometres to the north and can be seen from the peninsula's western coast.
